  4. This course is designed to provide students with the awareness, understanding, practical and theoretical methods and skills to build basic competency in counseling children and adolescents with specific developmental, social, and behavioral issues in a variety of settings.

  5. EDU 604 Career Counseling and Development) [3]
  6. Introduction to the theories of career development and counseling, including the use of occupational information sources and career assessment tools and techniques. This course is also designed to teach systematic procedures in career counseling by utilizing both clinical and interview data of the children, adolescents, and adults in vocational planning.

  18. Experience at a designated and approved internship site. Through individual and group supervision, interns will be able to critique and analyze specific cases and models of counseling.

  19. EDU 736 Consultation Theory & Methods [3]
  20. Introduction to consultation theory and methods. Student will identify significant approaches to consultation and develop consultation skills through role-play consulting experiences.

  21. EDU 759 Advanced Counseling Theory [3]
  22. Critical analysis of the advanced theory in counseling, including counseling strategies to deal with affective, cognitive and behavioral dysfunction.

  30. Students will study models for supervision of counselors based on real cases, and how it can be applied in fields. That is, students will discuss about counselor's philosophical supposition, its application, and how it can be applied in field.

  31. EDU 971 Case Management and Conceptualization [3]
  32. This course is designed to familiarize the students with the conceptualization and the treatment plans of counseling cases. Students will also understand how the theory is realistically applied to practice in counseling fields.

  34. Review of ethical and legal standards governing professional counselor training, research, and counseling practice, including client rights; confidentiality; the client-counselor relationship; and counseling research, training, and supervision.

The course provides an understanding of various family dynamics including couple relationships, parent-child relationships, and sibling relationships based on different theoretical perspectives and empirical findings. Also, students will have the opportunity to learn about effective family interventions.

  38. Through this course, students will learn major career counseling theories and various techniques and skills that can be applied in career counseling settings.
